Sights
& Sounds of Christmas presents their 27th annual festival this
year
San Marcos, Texas, Nov. 27,
2013-- Sights & Sounds of Christmas will be spreading cheer
across the town again this year in San Marcos Plaza Park on Dec. 4-7
with its unique Texas-style festival.
Sights & Sounds is a unique community event. According to the event President Brian Olson, the top sponsors this year are City of San Marcos, CTMC and HEB.

This event is also a basis for a lot of volunteering, especially with help from the university. Many Texas State groups volunteer, including Beta Alpha Psi, Black Women United, H.E.A.T, Texas State Women's Lacrosse and many more, said Catherine Marler, Volunteer Coordinator.
“Sights
& Sounds allows the community to come together as one,” said
Marler. “I think that sometimes there is a separation of the
university and the city, but during Sights & Sounds everyone
comes together as a community. The festival is perfect for anyone, no
matter what your age is. Kids at heart enjoy the event just as much
as the little ones.”
In
addition to the usual event attractions, new attractions are going to
be provided for people to look forward to this year.
“This
year we will be adding a laser light show, a petting zoo and bringing
back the children's arts and crafts tent,” said Lisa Morris,
recreation manager, Sights & Sounds Board Member and
Entertainment Chair. “We will also have performances by The
Invincible Czars, Carolyn Wonderland and Guy Forsyth, and Chubby
Knuckle Choir. We will also have performances from local school
choirs and dancers.”
The cost of the event is $5 per night or you can purchase a four-day wristband for $8. Kids ages 12 and under have free admission.

Along with providing a fun event every year, Sights & Sounds gives back to the community.
“Last
year, we were able to donate to The Education Foundation that would
disperse back into the school to help them out,” said Olson.
The committee would like to continue donating to the community this year.
