Our group chose to do a public relations project on the Sights & Sounds of Christmas Festival, which takes place every December at the San Marcos Plaza Park. We were drawn to the festival because it promotes family, giving, joy and loving our neighbors. As college students, we are constantly writing, reading, studying and intellectualizing far from home, in some cases. This is why we must take advantage of our time during the holidays to appreciate the meaning behind the Christmas season. While keeping up with our due dates, we grow distant from holiday traditions. This festival of fellowship, events, shows, lights, foods and music reminds us of what the Christmas season is about: peace and goodwill toward man.
Each member of our group has contributed their own little taste of Sights & Sounds. Nicole concentrated on specific events held at the festival such as Gala Night, the 5K and 1K Jingle Bell Runs and the Blue Santa Parade! Kelly has provided us with a news story about Sights & Sounds volunteers' personal experience with the festival, as well as the history of the event. Chelsey has written a Sights & Sounds press release about this year's upcoming events and celebrations. I provided information about the reasoning behind this project and descriptions of what each group member included in the project. This year, Sights & Sounds will begin on Dec. 4th and wrap up on Dec. 7th.
